Mole Crickets in Your Lawn
If mole crickets are a problem in your lawn, the optimum time to treat in north Florida is in mid to late June when the crickets are small. Before treating, check for tunneling. If unsure, use the soap flush treatment to verify. Mix 1½ fluid ounces of liquid dishwashing soap in 2 gallons of water and apply to a 4 square foot area of lawn. If two or four mole crickets appear on the surface within 3 minutes, then a treatment would be helpful. During the next 8-12 weeks, young mole crickets will hatch and this is the best time for control.
Oftanol should be applied in June and watered in according to label directions with ½" of water.
